I have been in the A/V industry professionally for over 16 years. My love for technology goes back a ways through. At least 30 years. Here is some of my favorite interests from my childhood, through school, until today.
"Life Parts"
At about the age of 4, i was already getting into trouble taking apart radios and electronic toys to see what made them work. Inside I found all kinds of parts that would give these devices life. I would call them "Life Parts". I remember using this term, which I coined myself. I don't remember why, but looking back it seems appropriate.
Star Wars
I remember standing in line for what seemed like hours, only to find they were sold out for Empire Strikes Back. We had to return the next day to finally watch it. I didn't know what the movie was, but my parents kept telling me it was Star Wars, so I was more than happy to wait. The cool blinking lights, gadgets an specifically the Death Star has always fascinated me. Electronics, especially hi-fi stuff has similar characteristics and has always drawn me to them.
Sound & Speakers
I studied speakers and sound technology from about age 11 years old. I soon realized this was my favorite hobby. I didn't realize it at the time, but this would turn into my career, rather than continue as my hobby.
NASA
By the time I was in high school, I thought I would have a career with NASA. I wanted to work in space, on projects like the International Space Station. After high school, I would go to school at Devry in Phoenix AZ. I moved there with my new family to further my education. Almost immediately, I realized I didn't have "the right stuff" so withdrew.
Big Box Store
I began work at a large retail department store where I learned customer service, as well as all kinds of business skills.
